Tuning In: Season Change Wellness, Honoring the Body’s Signals and Introducing My New Aromatherapy Bar

As the leaves finally settle and the crisp Pacific Northwest chill takes hold here in Lacey, I find myself looking out my wellness practice suite windows and naturally shifting into a quieter, more reflective headspace. November always feels like a transitional bridge—a collective deep breath before the rush of the holiday season.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it truly means to listen to the body when the seasons change. In my practice, I always aim to look at self-care from a well-rounded, somatic perspective. It’s not just about melting away surface tension; it’s about understanding the deep, quiet conversations your nervous system is having with your physical body every single day.

The Shift Inside: Why Winter Bodywork Feels Different
When the temperature drops, our physical habits naturally change. We shrug our shoulders against the wind, hold tension in our necks, and spend more time contracting inward. This cold-weather defense mechanism can leave us feeling stiff, sluggish, and disconnected.

This is exactly why deep, restorative bodywork is so vital right now. Incorporating specialized heat and botanical elements into your sessions doesn’t just feel comforting—it tells your nervous system that it is safe to down-regulate, increases deep circulation, and allows for genuine somatic recovery.

An Exciting Menu Addition: The Aromatherapy Bar & Bodywork
To help you lean into this seasonal transition, I am thrilled to officially introduce a brand-new sensory experience at Massage Therapeutics: Our Aromatherapy Bar & Bodywork category.

True self-care shouldn't force you to choose between feeling pampered and getting real physical results. These new interactive experiences allow you to actively participate in your healing journey by blending your own customized botanical formulations based on real-time somatic responses. Starting next month, you can experience this category through two distinct services:

  • Somatic Scent & Massage Integration (75 mins) and Somatic Scent Formulation & Foot Soak (45 mins ): Both are deeply grounding, concurrent experiences featuring a warm botanical Epsom salt foot soak, a rhythmic full-body Shiatsu massage chair session, and custom scent blending education.

Both experiences focus entirely on nervous system regulation and come with a custom-blended 10ml pulse-point rollerball and a 1oz hybrid body/room spray to support your daily self-care routine at home.

Honoring the Pause: Navigating Cold Season
Because bodywork heavily impacts your circulation and lymphatic flow, it can sometimes be a lot for a compromised immune system to process. I am always fiercely protective of my clients’ health, which is why a big part of holistic wellness is knowing when to seek a session and when to give your body permission to simply sleep.

If you are ever under the weather or feeling a bug coming on, resting at home is the ultimate act of self-care. Coming to the table when your immune system is already fighting can trigger a "healing crisis," leaving you feeling more fatigued. Let your cells rest first, and let us help you rebuild, restore, and ground yourself once the storm has passed.

A Moment of Gratitude for Our Lacey Community
I can’t look ahead to next month without pausing to express my deepest gratitude for how this community has embraced our space. From our daily sessions to the incredible honor of recently hosting Mayor Dante Payne to celebrate our milestones as a local, minority-owned small business, every moment reminds me why I chose this path. Whether you are a familiar face who has walked with me for years or a new client stepping into our suites for the first time, thank you for trusting me with your healing journey.

As we head into November, I encourage you to check in with yourself. Soften your shoulders. Take a deep, intentional breath. And remember to permit yourself to slow down as the earth does.

With warmth and care,
Keveyonna
